It is no secret that the members of SPLAT love innovation. I just read this great article in the NextGen column for Library Journal encouraging libraries to follow the lead of corporations like Google and truly create environments that support and encourage innovation, creativity, and radical ideas. What does it take to be innovative? What kind of environments do we need to inspire and support innovation? This article suggests a paradigm shift in the way libraries are organized and run. Imagine an open source ILS and catalogs that have Library 2.0 and Web 2.0 focuses. The future will look very bright for libraries that foster work environments conducive to innovation.

I am so excited to discover a new search engine that actually might be better than Google. Shocking I know but see for yourself. My coworker Max showed this site to me today and I was so impressed I had to blog about it. Cuil is actually an old Celtic word for knowledge and the site was created by a former Google engineer. I love the dynamic layout of the search results.
